• 1968 -- The Ministry of Education of Cyprus confers upon Costas Montis the National Prize for Poetry.
• 1973 -- Costas Montis is awarded by the Ministry of Education of Cyprus the Prize for Overall Contribution for his contribution to the Cypriot and Greek literature in general.
• 1976 -- He receives the first prize of the National Association of Greek Writers of Cyprus.
• 1979 -- He receives the first prize for novel awarded by the National Association of Greek Writers of Cyprus for his yet unpublished novel Afentis Batistas.
• 1981 -- The World Academy of Arts and Culture awards Costas Montis the title of Poet Laureate.
• 1984 -- Costas Montis is nominated by the PEN Chapter of Cyprus for the Nobel Prize.
• 1997 -- On February 26 the University of Cyprus confers upon Costas Montis an honorary doctorate.
• 2000 -- The Academy of Athens declares Costas Montis a corresponding member, the highest honor conferred on intellectual creators living outside Greece.
• 2001 -- On March 22 the University of Athens confers upon Costas Montis an honorary doctorate.
• 2003 -- On October 13 Costas Montis receives the "Yiannos Kranidiotis 2003" award for pioneering and original creativity.
